IT Project Portfolio Manager is the only project portfolio management system written with a workflow engine.

Because IT PPM runs on your Remedy server and can be interfaced with other Remedy-based applications, this approach gives you visibility into both change/service/work orders as well as larger projects; proposed projects and active projects; aligned against portfolios which reflect the company's goals and strategies.

IT PPM incorporates a 5-gate approval process for managing “new ideas.”

Individual portfolios can be defined.

Your corporate goals and strategies can be specified, and each project can be identified with a goal and / or strategy, aligning projects with goals and strategies. Projects can be weighed and prioritized within the 5-gate approval process.

IT PPM interfaces with ActionProgram Manager so you can see “proposed” projects, “active” projects, and "completed” projects on the same form.

Available resources can be checked.

Risks and issues can be managed and tracked at the Project level or the Portfolio level.

Very importantly, change/work/service orders (i.e. small projects) can be viewed along with large projects within IT PPM. If a change order starts out under $50,000, but then starts growing, management would like the same type of visibility they have for large projects. As one user said:
